A woman did her part in Dillon to save an Owl she found hurt in her yard Thursday.

Versie Page sent us the pictures above of the Owl in her yard on Manning Street in Dillon.

The Department of Natural Resources came to pick him up Thursday to take him to the Avian Center for Birds and Prey in Awendaw, but sadly he died on the way.

DNR says the Owl was likely just old.

All owls are protected and as birds of prey, they serve a a bio-indicator, giving us some idea of what's going on in the environment.
