An assistant principal has been taken to the hospital after he was injured trying to break up a fight at the alternative school in Florence Wednesday morning.
Two students, ages 16 and 19, got into a fight in the cafeteria, according to Florence police.
When the assistant principal tried to stop the boys from fighting, school administrators say he was knocked against a brick wall and hit his head.
We're waiting to learn more about his condition.
Both students were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
The 16-year-old was released to his parents and the 19-year-old, Zyquan Jackson, was booked at the Florence County Detention Center.
School administrators say it is standard operating procedure to have students arrested when they cause disturbances on campus.
They say the district's discipline code will be followed when determining how the boys will be punished. Officials say this is the first incident of this nature at the alternative school this year.
