Sumter law enforcement agencies have formed a multi-jurisdictional task force in an extensive effort to arrest the suspect(s) responsible for killing Aaron Abraham, 18, a senior at Sumter High School.

Sumter Police Chief Russell Roark and Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis said the State Law Enforcement Division, Clarendon County Sheriff's Office and the Camden Police Department are working with their agencies in this high priority investigation.

Abraham, who is described by friends and family as easy-going and artistic, was last seen at the Sumter County Library on North Harvin Street on July 19.

Security footage from the library shows the teen leaving the library alone around 6 p.m. and wearing a gray t-shirt. Abraham was reported missing by his mother on July 22.

A man collecting cans discovered Abraham's remains along SC 261 and Cane Savannah Road in the Wedgefield area of Sumter County, about 14 miles from the victim's last known location.

In addition to the task force, Roark and Dennis have tapped into social media and cyber tools to both inform and solicit help from the community. The "Aaron Abraham Task Force" page has been set up on Facebook and will provide the latest news and information related to the case.

A dedicated e-mail and task force hotline, which is capable of receiving text messages as well as phone calls related to the investigation, has also been established. Tips and information can be e-mailed to aaronabraham@sumter-sc.com or call (803) 607-8927.
