Myrtle Beach police investigate motel homicide

Myrtle Beach police are investigating a homicide at an Ocean Boulevard motel.

Officers responded to a call of gunshots fired at the Sea Mist Driftwood, located at 1207 S. Ocean Blvd. at 10:07 p.m. Tuesday, according to an incident report.

When they arrived, the person who had called told officers to go to the Cam Motel next door at 1203 S. Ocean Blvd.

Officers found broken glass and 30-year-old Marcus Darnell Nelson, who had apparently been shot, on the floor of room 111, the report said.

Paramedics were called and Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said an autopsy was performed Wednesday and confirmed that Nelson died of multiple gunshot wounds.
