NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Police in North Charleston have arrested a man and accused him of impersonating a police officer while being intoxicated.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that 20-year-old Luke Joseph Westbury is charged with impersonating a police officer and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Police say Westbury was knocking on doors, calling himself a detective and investigating drug activity, while he was intoxicated.

An apartment resident told officers last weekend that a man in shorts knocked on her door and asked her if she had seen anything suspicious. She said the man called himself a detective, though he provided no identification.

The woman also said the man's eyes were bloodshot and he was unsteady on his feet.

It was not clear if Westbury has a lawyer.
