Robeson County deputies say they solved a 2009 murder.
Major Howard Branch says they charged Reginald Stubbs, 21, with first degree Murder in the death of Charles Lewis.
Branch says deputies served Stubbs with a warrant for murder Thursday, just as he was to be released from a state prison in North Carolina on a prior conviction.
Branch says Stubbs, 29, shot and killed Lewis at Dru's Place on Sansbury Lane in Parkton on December 26, 2009.
Friends were trying to take Lewis to the hospital when they met deputies on the road. Branch says Lewis was already dead inside the car.
Branch says it took a lot of time because they had to track down witnesses.
Stubbs is scheduled to be in court Friday afternoon for a first appearance hearing. It's expected his bond will be denied.
