The new Walmart is now open for business in the City of Bennettsville, which means around 200 new jobs for the community.

It's the community's first Walmart.

Employees say as many as 500 people were waiting for the store to open.

Many in the community say they're just excited about finally getting a Walmart.

"Me and my grandson he's been, everyday he's been is it open yet? Is it open yet? So the people in the community is very proud to have Walmart come here to help with our unemployment rate," said Janice Bright.

As part of its grand opening Wednesday, Walmart gave out $14,000 to groups like the fire and police departments in Bennettsville.
