Coastal Carolina University held its 15th annual Economic Growth Summit Monday morning.

The summit explained ways the community can help transform the local economy and provide an economic outlook for the Grand Strand.

The CCU business school says for the first time since the recession started, tourism and real estate both delivered positive results in the same quarter.

Coastal's research economist Robert Salvino added that tourism in Horry County is going though a resurgence.

"Myrtle Beach had record years the past two years in measures that we use to gauge the performance in tourism which is the collection from the fees that are assessed on the tourism industry, and it's been exceptional," said Salvino.

Hotel occupancy rates are up nearly two percent from the same time a year ago, and single family residence sales are up almost ten percent.
