PICKENS, S.C. (AP) - A 55-year-old woman has been ordered to spend 25 years in prison after her 21-month-old grandson died from an overdose of painkillers.

The Anderson Independent-Mail reports that a Pickens County jury found Donna Phillips guilty Friday of homicide by child abuse. The same jury found the child's mother not guilty.

Prosecutors say an autopsy determined the boy died in March 2008 from the overdose while in his mother's care. The child had spent the day before with his father and grandmother.

The boy's father, 28-year-old Jamie Morris, was found guilty of aiding and abetting homicide by child abuse and sentenced to eight years in prison.
