CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A relatively rare coroner's inquest is scheduled in the death of a Mount Pleasant child who was mauled to death by two dogs last spring.
Charleston County Coroner Rae Wooten has determined the dogs caused the death. But the inquest, slated for Aug. 10, will determine if the death of 2-year-old Ja'Marr Tiller was an accident or if someone is responsible.
The child died on May 27 when he walked outside through an unlocked door of a home in Mount Pleasant. His body was found by his mother when she returned from doing errands.
The last coroner's inquest in Charleston County was four years ago, involving a plane crash in Charleston Harbor.
