Conway police arrest attempted murder suspect

CONWAY -- Conway police have arrested Said Vereen, 22, of Conway, for Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime in connection with a shooting that occurred on Leonard Avenue, July 21st.

When police arrived on Leonard Avenue that day, they found one person with a gunshot wound to his lower back.

The victim said he didn't know who shot him. He added that he heard shots being fired in the area and was running to his friend's apartment when he was shot.

The victim was air lifted to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.

Vereen turned himself in to police on July 26th, 2012. He appeared before Judge Jane Mackey and his bond was denied this morning.
