The Town of McBee and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control issued a boil water advisory for water system customers in the Town of McBee.

You should boil tap water vigorously for one minute before using it for drinking or cooking.

The water was disrupted when someone drove over a fire hydrant on US 1.

Because of the loss of pressure, the potential for bacterial contamination exists.

Water quality test results should be complete by noon Friday. McBee will then issue a notice on the boil water advisory.

If you have any questions, call the Town of McBee or SCDHEC (843) 661-4825.

Alligator Rural Water Customers are not affected by the advisory.
