NewsChannel 15 has received a number of telephone calls within the past few days about WJMX 97.9 AND 970 AM no longer airing the Rush Limbaugh program after 23 years on air.
The station's general manager, Craig Dalla Riva, says the decision to pull Limbaugh was based on simple economics. Limbaugh's show is being replaced with former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.
In a pre-recorded statement on a special telephone extension at the radio station, Riva says Limbaugh's syndicator, Premier Radio Networks, wanted more money while the station was getting less.
NewsChannel 15 has learned Limbaugh's talk show will now air on Miller Communication's WFRK 95.3 FM in Florence beginning July 19th at 12 p.m.
"It's not very often you can pick up the number one most listened to talk show in the world. We're scrambling now because there seems to be an undercurrent of people wanting their Rush back on the radio. So, we're having to rush, no pun intended, to get Rush back on the radio to make everyone happy," said Harold Miller, President/CEO Miller Communications.
