A Williamsburg County Transit Bus and a pickup truck collided in Pawleys Island Tuesday evening on Highway 17 killing the driver of the pickup truck, 47-year-old Gregory Smith.
Bob Beebe, with Midway Fire Rescue, says 19 people were treated, 12 of those were taken to area hospitals. Three were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, one of those is in critical condition, the driver who died was also taken to GSRMC. Two were taken to Waccamaw Community Hospital, and seven to Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
The conditions of the remaining patients are not being released.
The driver of the pick up truck had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Several passengers on the bus had to exit through windows.
Bob Beebe says the pickup truck pulled out of the Isis Bar and Grill, and the bus collided with the truck.
Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
