South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper Lance Corporal R.M. Falls was hurt in a crash just after midnight in Sumter County.
Falls was responding to assist the Sumter County Sheriff's Office when the crash happened. We are waiting for details about the collision.
Falls is hospitalized in stable condition, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.
"The South Carolina Highway Patrol is very concerned about Lance Corporal Falls and we are keeping him and his family in our prayers," said Col. Mike Oliver. "We are a family and when one of our own is injured, it impacts us all."
"The SCDPS Team is thinking of the Falls family at this time," said SCDPS Director Leroy Smith. We will be here to support his family throughout his period of recovery."
The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
Falls has been with Highway Patrol since 1991.
