Florence police say they've charged a 14-year-old boy with Arson 3rd degree and Animal Cruelty.

His name isn't being released because he is a juvenile.

Last Saturday, officers say he poured lighter fluid on a dog near Iola Jones Park in Florence.

Witnesses say they saw five or six teenagers standing around and laughing as the dog was burning.

The five month old husky/chow named Princess by her owner died from the injuries two days later.

The 14-year-old suspect is in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.

He is expected to be back in Florence early next week for a detention hearing.

This investigation is ongoing.
