The governor's office announced Thursday AVX is creating 279 jobs in Greenville County.

AVX once employed about 1,000 people in Myrtle Beach and Conway.

In 2009, it announced it was moving its corporate headquarters to the Fountain Inn.

We've contacted the governor's office and the company to see if any of those 279 jobs were moved from Horry County. We have not yet heard back.

AVX plans to complete renovations at its upstate plant, investing $14 million.
