An upper level ridge of high pressure that has been in control of the Southeast over the weekend will gradually slide back West of the Carolinas over the next several days. While the unseasonable hot weather and humidity will remain around across the area, the extreme heat from the weekend will gradually break. Highs will hit the low 90s by the beaches and into the Mid/Upper 90s Inland through mid week. Factor the humidity and heat together, the heat index(or feels like temperaure) will reach near 105° through mid week. Temps will gradually return closer to seasonal averages by the weekend. Keep an eye out for scattered strong/severe storms possible this afternoon and through the later part of the week as well. A slight risk of severe storms remains in the forecast for today with the main threats being damaging wind gusts and hail.  You can track the storms on First Alert Live Doppler 15000 or if you have an iPhone or Android make sure you download or app! The tropics at this point remain fairly quiet. You can always keep up with the latest on the tropics on the Hurricane Central page.
