The House Ethics Committee is meeting behind closed doors as it considers who will testify in its investigation into allegations that Gov. Nikki Haley illegally lobbied while a member of the House.
The committee plans to decide Thursday whom to subpoena for next week's public hearing. Members voted to go into executive session immediately after the meeting started.
A complaint by Republican activist John Rainey accuses the Republican governor of illegally lobbying in her previous jobs as a fundraiser for a hospital and consultant for an engineering firm. Haley has repeatedly said she did nothing wrong.
The committee voted unanimously May 30 to reopen the case and hold the hearing. That vote came four weeks after members found probable cause that violations had occurred but then immediately dismissed all charges.
