Highway Patrol investigating deadly accident

One person died in a crash on Highway 22 about three miles north of Highway 501 near Aynor at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Highway Patrol says the Chevy SUV was going east when it ran into the median, the driver lost control and the SUV overturned several times.

The driver died. The 37-year-old woman from Marion was wearing a seatbelt. She was the only person in the SUV.

Deputy Coroner Tony Hendricks says he can release her name after 5 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation by Highway Patrol.
