10 years of playing the lottery finally paid off last Tuesday for a Columbia woman who won $1 million in Mega Millions®.
The winner told lottery officials she has family in Bishopville and stopped to buy the ticket at the Quik Mart on N. Main Street.
Her advice to other players: "Don't give up."
The numbers she picked, 10, 11, 12, 14, and 24, were the lucky five white ball numbers at last. She spent the extra $1 for the Megaplier® option to increase her would be $200,000 prize to an automatic $1 million.
"I didn't want to win it all at once," she joked with lottery officials, so she plans to continue playing.
"I haven't slept," she said awaiting the check. "But I'm pretty sure I will tonight."
As for her plans, she's keeping those to herself.
The odds of winning $1 million playing Mega Millions® are 1 in 3,904,701.
The Quik Mart received a commission of $10,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
