NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- North Myrtle Beach police say a 39-year-old man was in the public parking lot by Bay Watch Resort about 3 a.m. Friday when a man started yelling at him from the 6th floor balcony.
The two argued, and police say the person on the balcony then came downstairs and pointed a gun at the 39-year-old victim.
According to a statement from North Myrtle Beach, the victim grabbed the gun, the two struggled, and the victim hit the man in the face knocking him backwards.
They say the victim called 911, and the man ran into knee deep water in the ocean and shot himself in the head.
The victim and witnesses pulled the man from the water and started CPR, but he did not survive.
Police say the man was between 30 and 40 years old. He has not yet been identified.
