Mullins City Administrator Kenneth Davis says the city is using two mobile units to house its city hall after a fire prompted the closure of the facility last month.

The portables are located in the parking lot behind City Hall on East Front Street.

The fire damaged three buildings.

Davis says there is still a lot of smoke and water damage inside city hall making it impossible for them to work there. He says they've recently discovered asbestos in the ceiling, insulation ducts, and pipes.

Crews will have to remove the asbestos before they can determine if the building can be renovated or demolished.

Davis says city council members are very concerned about moving back into the building.

City council is looking at other options, including moving to a different building altogether.

Davis says they're operating as close to normal out of the mobile units. They've retrieved all of the city's computers, but have yet to get the hard copies of documents stored there.
