ATLANTIC BEACH -- Benny Lee Webb, 54, the former town manager of Atlantic Beach, was arrested Thursday on one count of Assault and Battery, 3rd Degree.

According to an incident report, Webb assaulted Atlantic Beach resident Paul Curry at the Atlantic Beach Town Hall on January 21.

SLED agents visited the town hall on March 15th as part of the investigation.

Webb had resigned his position the week before.

April 24th, the town hired Calvin Blanton as interim town manager.

Blanton previously balanced the books for Atlantic Beach.

In 2008, The North Carolina State Board of Certified Public Accountant Examiners revoked Blanton's CPA license after he pled guilty to failure to file income taxes for both his company and himself
