There's good news for drivers in South Carolina.

Gasoline in the state is now selling for less than it did a year ago.

AAA Carolinas reports the average price of a gallon of gasoline on Monday was just under $3.60 a gallon - that's down 9 cents a gallon from the same time last year. Gas hit a high of about $3.74 a gallon on April 9 and has been declining steadily since then.

The motor club says there are a number of reasons for the decline.

Among them the Euro has weakened against the dollar, meaning that speculation in oil futures is less attractive. The Chinese economy also has weakened, easing demand, and Americans are driving less.
