Hartsville Police Chief James Hudson says Trevante Johnson, 19, has been arrested and charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Hudson says Johnson held up employees at the Sonic restaurant on North Fifth Street as they closed around midnight Friday.

Chief Hudson says a short time after the robbery, they found the gun. He says officers were searching the area and saw a man matching a description of the suspect. He says that man was Johnson, who took off running.

Hudson says officers caught him minutes later.

A bond hearing will be held for Johnson Friday afternoon. Hudson says they will ask the judge to deny bail or set a high bond because of the seriousness of the charges.
