MARION -- Money problems have forced a nursing home in Marion to close, at least temporarily.
Officials with Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living Home say they're moving their 17 residents to another facility because they haven't received federal matching funds to operate the facility.
They say a clerical error is to blame for them not getting the money.
Officials say they can't afford to adequately run the home and their power is expected to be shut off, so it's in the best interest of the residents to be moved.
The facility expects to reopen on May 6th, when the federal dollars come in.
Officials with the Department of Health and Environmental Control say they suspended Magnolia Gardens' license for violations in February. It was reinstated a short time later following an inspection.
Marion police officers are on the premises making sure there are no problems as residents move.
DHEC is helping to relocate the residents.
