Jury selection is underway for an Ash, North Carolina man charged with a 2009 Little River murder, according to the 15th Circuit Solicitor's Office in Horry County.
Horry County police charged Thomas Edward Shipplett, 57, for the shooting death of Dale McDuffy Hammond, 56, in July 2009.
Police said Shipplett shot Hammond several times at his vacation home on River Road.
Shipplett posted bond and was released from jail a week after being charged.
His trial started Monday at the Horry County Government and Justice Building in Conway.
