BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. (WPDE) - This weekend, a Marlboro County church reopened its youth center after police say it was torched by arsonist nearly three years ago.

Word of Life Christian Church parishioners say it took them some time to rebuild after the youth center was destroyed by fire in 2009.

Afew weeks ago, police charged two men with arson and burglary in connection with the fire.

Church members say the fire did set them back, but now they can restore children programs and activities.

"Many of the programs that we had we weren't able to have those programs anymore. We had a bible college, we had an at-risk student program and many other programs that we had that we could not have anymore," said parishioner Wilbur Hodge.

The 20,000 square foot facility holds an all purpose room and eight classrooms.
