Mock trial teams from two local high schools will compete in the state championship this weekend.

Socastee High School has been practicing every day leading up to the championship in Columbia. Their team consists of 13 students, most of whom are sophomores.

Abby Birchler is the lead defense attorney for the team and says that she has a feeling they can win. "We work really hard," Birchler says. "We're the underdogs, but we're determined to prove everyone else wrong." If they do win, the team will advance to nationals in Albuquerque, NM.

North Myrtle Beach High School is another of the twelve teams competing this weekend.
