Tuesday night, Horry County Council approved the first reading of an ordinance that would change how long permits last for vendors during the Spring Harley Rally.

The proposed change comes after Myrtle Beach Harley Davidson moved the dates of their Cruisin' the Coast Spring Rally from May 14-20 to May 18-28, the same weekend as the Memorial Day Atlantic Beach Bike Fest.

The proposed change would cut down the permits for vendors from seven consecutive days to five.

Horry County Council Chairman Tom Rice says, "The bike rallies are the most obtrusive event that we have, and we issue a lot of special event permits. For some reason, we issue the longest permits to the most obtrusive events we have."

Horry County Council will have to vote on the change two more times before it becomes official.
