LAMAR -- Fire destroyed a large warehouse in Lamar Friday morning.

Darlington County firefighters responded to the building off Railroad Avenue around 4:30 a.m.

Crews said flames covered most of the warehouse when they arrived. It took an hour to contain it.

Lamar Police called in the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate the cause because another building fire in the same area downtown was deemed suspicious last year.

Five fire stations throughout Darlington County responded.
