Every Christmas, the Coastal Chapter of the American Red Cross and dozens of volunteers pull off an amazing feat... Christmas dinner for 5,000 people.

This year, there will be three seatings on Christmas Day and one seating on Christmas Eve.

The dinner is sponsored by Bi-Lo Charities and is free to anyone in need of a free meal or just some fellowship, said coordinator Janice Ash. The events cost in excess of $16,000.

In addition to serving meals, many box dinners will be delivered to those who cannot make it to a church site.
