Gov. Nikki Haley is inviting South Carolinians to join her at the Statehouse for the annual governor's Carolighting ceremony.

Haley is hosting the 45th annual Carolighting at the Statehouse complex in Columbia on Monday.

Haley's office says her husband, children and Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin are expected on hand for the event, which is sponsored by the City of Columbia, Columbia Breakfast Optimist Club, Columbia Garden Club and Garden Club of South Carolina.

Charleston television anchor Bill Sharpe is serving as emcee of the event that kicks off the holiday season in South Carolina. Last year, 200-plus musicians performed at the Statehouse steps.
