North Myrtle Beach passed an ordinance banning green laser pointers Monday night.

The lasers are sold at many beach stores for about eight dollars and city officials say they are a nuisance.

North Myrtle Beach council voted to ban sales of green lasers to minors. Minors can only purchase a laser pointer if an adult is present.

Violators could get fined up to $500 and 30 days in jail.
