Areas of smoke and fog covered parts of the area this morning reducing visibilities below 1/4 miles. Some smoke and haze are expected to effect parts of the area through the afternoon, but a shift in the winds will help disperse it a little. A large wildfire in Pender County, North Carolina continues to burn and we'll see some of the smoke come in across the area again Friday.

With dry conditions and rain chances remaing slim, concerns for wildfires increase, especially with the upcoming 4th of July weekend. It is strongly urged to avoid personalized firework displays to keep the threat for fires low. Here is a link to some events going on this weekend.

While most of the area remains in a moderate drought and could use some much needed rain, the chances will be slim to none. You can always track any rain showers and storms around the area on First Alert Live Doppler 15000.

Don't forget to sign up for Alert 15 and 15 Weather Call if you haven't done so yet to be prepared whenever severe weather strikes. High pressure will build into the area today and off the East Coast over the weekend. It will remain hot, and there will be a rise in humidity making it feel even hotter. Look for the heat index to break 100 at times this weekend.

Today: Mostly sunny skies, hazy/smoky, and hot. Highs-  Grand Strand:Upper 80s, Inland:Mid 90s.

Tonight:  Mostly clear and mild. Lows: Upper 60s/Low 70s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny skies, hot and a bit more humid. Highs-  Grand Strand:Upper 80s, Inland: Mid 90s
