(AP) -- A civil rights organization is suing a Myrtle Beach restaurant, alleging discrimination in a claim that three black patrons were refused service during a biker rally last year.
The NAACP says in a lawsuit filed Friday that employees of the Pan American Pancake & Omelet House told three black men the restaurant was closed but continued to serve white patrons.
Constantine Leftis has run the restaurant for 25 years. He said Friday no customers have ever been turned away because of race and that he had not been served with the lawsuit.
Organizers expect as many as 300,000 people this weekend for the annual Atlantic Beach Bikefest in nearby Atlantic Beach. The NAACP was on the Grand Strand Thursday, one day before the official start to BikeFest, announcing they would once again organize Operation Bike Week Justice to monitor how police handle the rally.
