HTC (Horry Telephone Cooperative) had a failure of a piece of equipment in its network at the South Conway office about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, resulting in an interruption in telephone service for customers south of Conway to Aynor.

Tom Vitt, with HTC, says the problem is impacting landlines and some wireless service as well.

Both business and residential customers are affected, including us here at NewsChannel 15.

HTC says its technicians have restored service to some customers as of 10 p.m. Thursday and expect service to be restored to more and more customers throughout the evening. HTC technicians anticipate all service to be fully restored by Friday morning.
