Myrtle Beach police are investigating a complaint about embezzlement at the American Legion Post 40 in Murrells Inlet.

A police report says the post's president found some missing funds in the legion's bank statements, going back to 2004.

The bank that Post 40 uses is located in Myrtle Beach, so, the case is in the Myrtle Beach Police Department's jurisdiction.

The president told police he found 57 suspicious checks cashed by the legion's financial officer, totaling more than $2,600.

The police report says officers plan to get a warrant for the financial officer's arrest, for breach of trust.
