A search continues in Robeson County, NC for a third suspect in one or more home invasions in Bladen County, NC.
Thursday afternoon, the three are suspected of a home invasion in Bladen County. According to Robeson County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy J.A. Hunt, police were not far behind the suspects as they drove into Robeson County. Hunt says they turned off of Highway 41 onto Snake Road, tried to break into another house, and when they couldn't, they ran into the woods.
Several nearby schools were placed on lockdown for a time during the search Thursday afternoon.
Terrell Oxendine, 28, of Lumberton was arrested Thursday. The Bladen County Sheriff's Office, Robeson County Sheriff's Department, Lumberton Police Department, U.S. Marshals, and North Carolina Highway Patrol assisted in the search.
According to Bladen County Sheriff's Office Captain Rodney Hester, another man was arrested Thursday afternoon, but was released with no charges after it was determined he was not involved in the home invasion.
About 4 p.m. Friday, Brian Keith Chavis, 26, of Lumberton was arrested in Robeson County.
Oxendine and Chavis are charged with larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen property.
Hester says they're still looking for a third suspect in the home invasion, Samuel Locklair, 22, of Lumberton.
Hunt says the three men are suspects in other recent home invasions as well.
