The Food and Drug Administration says major brands of caffeinated alcoholic drinks should be off store shelves Monday, Dec. 13.

The move comes after the FDA issued warning letters to four companies in November saying the drinks are unsafe.

The agency says the combination of caffeine and alcohol in the drinks can lead to a 'wide-awake drunk'. There are also reports that the drinks have led to alcohol poisoning, car accidents and assualts.

Phusion Projects, the maker of Four Loko and United Brands Company, the maker of Joose, no longer ship the products.

Again, the drinks are expected to be off store shelves, nationwide Monday morning.

At least four states have banned the beverages.
