Thursday night at Coastal Carolina University, the annual Salute to American Veterans was held.

In front of a packed house, there were musical tributes, including a salute to the armed forces. When the Conway Christian School Ambassadors sang the official songs of each of the five branches of the military, veterans of those branches were invited to stand.

Then, the crowd watched a new film produced locally, American Odyssey: The Voyage of Christopher Columbus.

This night was all about American history and recognizing those who've served our country.

"Our freedom really is a gift from them. They have preserved, protected, and defended all of us over the years, and so this whole event is to say thank you to them. They are our guests of honor," said the film's producer, Rod Gragg.

The event was sponsored by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Joseph Sanders Dentistry, HTC, and Coastal Carolina University.
