Deputy 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson said the Socastee High School student arrested for firing a shot at a school resource officer Tuesday will likely be charged with attempted murder and possessing items to make a bomb.

Richardson said a detention hearing for the juvenile will likely take place within the next two days.

Richardson said the solicitor's office will consider asking the court to try the 14-year-old as an adult, considering his ability to reason, his grade level and the severity of the crime.

A family court judge will decide whether the juvenile, whose name has not been released due to his age, will be tried in adult court.
