Shortly after Tuesday's shooting at Socastee High School, police officers arrived at the suspect's home to see what they could find there.
And by 7 p.m., Horry County Police executed a search warrant at the home of the freshman Socastee student in the Steeple Chase subdivision off Forestbrook Road.
The teenager, whose identity has not been released, is accused of placing "suspicious devices" at school and then firing a shot at a school resource officer.
Lt. Keith Strickland said detectives recovered several items of interest from the home on Belmont Park Drive, but they wouldn't specify what they took.
Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution as bomb squad technicians swept the house to look for explosives. Neighbors were displaced for about three and a half hours, Strickland said.
Police say around 2 p.m. Tuesday, the 9th grader entered the office of Socastee's SRO and fired a shot. The officer was not hit, and the student was arrested.
Later in the day, bomb squads found "multiple suspicious devices" throughout the high school, and bomb techs had to work to render them safe.
Police haven't confirmed what the devices are, but they say there was a threat of detonation, and the devices will be sent off for further analysis.
