Baseball fans were able to donate food to people who really need it and get a discount on a Pelicans game Friday.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans and local rotary clubs teamed up for a canned food drive to benefit Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach.

Anyone who brought five canned goods to BB&T Coastal Field received a buy one, get one free coupon for a ticket.

Helping Hand appreciates the help.  They say they serve a lot of people in this economy who are facing tough times.

"There's work here, but there's not as much, said Helping Hand employee Lisa Buie."

Buie continues to say, "We have a lot of people who come here thinking there's work and they have a hard time finding work and they have their families and we're helping to feed people."

Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach says food donations typically slow down in the summer.

For more information on the food drive, contact the Pelicans at (843) 918-6000.
