The 29th Annual Summer Kite Festival kicks off Friday, June 18 on the beach in front of the Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort at 8400 Costa Verde Dr., in Myrtle Beach.
Kites will be given away in exchange for a donation to the first 500 participating kids ages 12 and under. The event is free and open to the public.
Kite flying exhibitions and shows will be held, world renowned kite flyers will demonstrate their kite flying skills and lessons will be given to those learning to fly single line as well as stunt kites.
The festival is sponsored by Klig's Kites and McDonald's. Proceeds will benefit Caring In Our Lifetime, which was first organized in 1997 to raise funds for a local breast cancer survivor. The effort has continued annually to help many more survivors with their medical bills and other expenses related to breast cancer. Caring In Our Lifetime has raised more than $300,000 to help local survivors in Horry and Georgetown counties.
Caring In Our Lifetime's 2010 sponsor is Carolina Regional Cancer.
