The company that owns the Georgetown steel plant says it will continue talking with United Steelworkers about re-opening the plant.

Wednesday, the union voted to take lower wages in an effort to reopen the Arcelor-Mittal plant. The company suspended operations at the plant last July, saying the recession caused a significant drop in demand for steel.

The union president told us he should hear from the plant in the next 30 days about the possibility of it re-opening.

When we asked the company, a spokesperson would only say they will "continue dialogue about the market and a potential reopening of the Georgetown facility."
