(AP) -- South Carolina legislators still don't agree on a bill requiring a 24-hour wait before a woman could have an abortion.

A committee of House and Senate members tried again Wednesday morning to hash out differences in the versions each chamber passed.

But, as in previous attempts, no progress was made. The bill's chances of passing this year are dwindling. The regular session is to end Thursday.

Both versions would increase the wait time from one hour to one day. They disagree on how to calculate the waiting period.

The House bill ties the clock to an ultrasound at the clinic, while the Senate version allows information on the procedure to be downloaded from the Web and time-stamped a day before an appointment.
