Firefighters and police officers gave demonstrations and promoted safety Friday at Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach.

The firefighters showed people how to put out grease fires and gave sprinkler demonstrations inside their fire safety trailer. This statistic is a strong reminder of why safety is so important... 80% of all fire deaths occur inside the home. "Most home fires are started in the kitchen, so that's why we're stressing the pan and making sure you put a lid on it. Don't spray water on a grease fire, because you know, it can make the flames get larger," said Lt. Christian Sliker, Myrtle Beach Fire Department.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department was also there checking to make sure child safety seats were properly installed.
