Students from elementary schools in Marlboro County who made strides in their reading skills were treated to a special day by the Limos for Learning program and Skye Banquet Hall, Wednesday.

The students got limousine rides to Skye in Bennettsville, where they walked down the red carpet and were treated to lunch and entertainment.  The students attend Bennettsville, Clio, Blenheim, Wallace and McColl elementary schools.

The Limos program recognized and rewarded the 122 exceptional third and fourth graders for their hard work and reading improvement.  These students also exceeded their goal of reading a minimum of 20 minutes per day outside the classroom.

A parade of eight super-stretch limos, including an honorary police escort, took the students to the Literacy Celebration Day.  In addition to receiving their awards, the students were entertained with a customized show, The Magic of Reading, featuring the magical talents of Michael Bairefoot.
